Ledger Getting Started Hub — ledger.com/start

Fast, practical hub to set up your Ledger device, protect your recovery phrase, and perform your first secure transactions.

Overview

Ledger devices keep your private keys offline and require on-device confirmation for every transaction. Ledger Live (desktop & mobile) is the official companion app for setup, firmware updates, app management, and transaction signing. This hub condenses the essentials so you can get started confidently.

Download Ledger Live

Open your browser and go directly to ledger.com/start. Choose the correct installer for Windows, macOS, or Linux, or install the mobile app from the App Store / Google Play. Avoid links in unsolicited messages — bookmark the official page.

Quick setup (create or restore)

Power on the device and follow Ledger Live’s onboarding. Choose “Create a new device” to generate a new recovery phrase or “Restore” if you already have one. Set a device PIN on the hardware (not on your computer) and write your recovery phrase exactly as shown — offline.

Do not photograph or store your recovery phrase digitally. Ledger support will never ask for it.

Send & receive safely

To receive, use Ledger Live → Receive, then verify the address on your device screen before sharing it. To send, create the transaction in Ledger Live, then verify recipient, amount and fee on the hardware display and approve physically. The device screen is the only trusted source for verification.

Essential security tips

Quick troubleshooting

If Ledger Live can’t detect your device: try a different USB cable or port, unlock the device and open the correct app, restart Ledger Live, or reinstall the installer. For firmware update issues follow on-screen recovery steps or contact official support — never share your recovery phrase.
